I love making things

Anything from putting together IKEA furniture (sick, I know) to knitting scarves, I even enjoy covering my daughter’s school books with contact (another illness, I know). I remember in high school, sewing the standard boxer shorts and pillow case wasn’t enough for me. I also painted my pillowcase with fabric paint to match my Ken Done bedspread. In drama we had to write a short play, so I made a corrugated cardboard journal cover for mine. I just couldn’t help myself. Think it, draw it, make it!

Kim Schubel Artist for @Kim Can Drw and Textile designer for @Schudio I have always loved fabrics, i don't know why but there has always been something special about them. I recall as a kid my mum having boxes and shelves full of piles and remnants of textiles. She also loved them, i guess that's where it comes from. I recall early in my upbringing wearing handmade clothing that she made, even winning a local contest (in which I modeled a nautical outfit). Although she hasn't sewn for many years now, she is still a lover of fabrics. That's something I re-learned in 2017 when we spent hours in a fabric store in Vancouver Canada together. Our 'Feet' matter

What's in a foot? Words by - Cassie Doherty Images by - Kim Schubel - Recently we posted a blog about why we started Schudio Studio. Since posting our story we have been asked to elaborate on our statement about being as environmentally conscious as possible. This is a statement that can sometimes be thrown around lightly by businesses wishing to portray themselves as forward thinking and aligning themselves with the current sustainable movement. We, by no means think that our policy is perfect but we are very serious about doing our part to reduce waste and our environmental footprint.One of our first decisions when building our business was to only use Australian suppliers for our materials and packaging.
